The Association of Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture UK (ATCM)
The Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture (ATCM) is one of the main self-regulatory bodies that govern the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in the UK.
TCM is a system of medicine that includes acupuncture, herbal medicine and therapeutic massage called Tuina. Members are professionally qualified in acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine and Tuina massage.
At present over 700 professionally qualified TCM practitioners are registered with ATCM. Members adhere to a strict code of ethics and professional conduct. They also have full professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
The ATCM is actively engaged in academic study and ongoing research into the clinical application of Traditional Chinese Medicine. We have been working closely with the Department of Health and Health Professions’ Council with a view to establishing statutory regulation in the UK for TCM practitioners.
ATCM demands high professional standards of all members and plays a crucial role in communication between practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the medical profession.
